new 3D printed pieces!

As I mentioned in my Busy October post, I've ordered some new pieces on Shapeways. A few weeks ago they arrived! In the meantime I took pictures and made a simple video. Now I want to share these together with background stories / conclusions of the pieces :)

This is how they arrived, in their own individual packages. You can see little stones in the bags of the Stainless Steel pieces. These are from the polishing.

First up, the Bird on a Branch pendant in Stainless Steel. I'm very pleased with the result! It's nice and heavy, it feels like a 'real' jewelry piece :)

It also looks pretty in White Strong & Flexible, but I think it's more of an ornament instead of a jewelry piece. It's too fragile..

Here's the video I made of the pendant and the ring that has the same design :)

I've already designed this pendant last year, for my school project. I designed it so it would be able to open like a locket. It sort of worked.. It just could not completely close haha
Because of this feature it was only printable in the Strong & Flexible plastics. I found it was too fragile, therefore I wanted to make it into a Stainless Steel piece. This year I finally found the time to adjust the model and get it printed :)
It's quite a big piece, which means it's also quite expensive. Now I'm thinking of making a smaller version and hopefully reduce the price a bit. Let's see how that turns out!

Now, for the bows, there was a slight problem with these.. Since they were quite dense, I made them hollow. There's also a hole going through the side to feed a necklace through. Because it's also hollow, it's difficult for the necklace to find it's way. So these need a bit of fixing before I can put them up for sale.
Apart from this problem, I'm pleased with the end result. They look cute and the Strong & Flexible colors are pretty nice!

What do you guys think of these pieces?
You can find all my pieces here in my tiny purple treehouse shop :)
